When I was visiting the trade show Maison et Objet in Paris, I met Vienna-based ceramic artist Sandra Haischberger. I was drawn to her stand by the exquisite porcelain tableware in pretty pastels she had on display. The form of the lids of the tea pot and sugar bowl was something that stood out, so I was intrigued to find out more.
Sandra founded her label feinedinge* in 2005. She creates tableware, home accessories and light objects.
At feinedinge* the mixture of handicraft and tradition is essential. Qualities from the past and the present are assembled. “Drawing all its secrets from the material is exactly the challenge. Perforation, for example, is an ideal technique of combining light with porcelain – or making it translucent”, says Sandra.
The products combine textured surfaces and delicate structures on the exterior of the objects. With the latest collection `ALiCE – tea & dining´ the porcelain slip is dyed. Clear glaze is applied only to the interior of each piece the exterior is left unglazed and polished.
