Neighbourhood De Pijp in Amsterdam, also referred to as the Latin Quartier, is one of the most vibrant parts in the city. Most notably for its Albert Cuyp market and many hip and trendy boutiques. I continue my guide with my favourite shops and places to eat.
All the Luck in the World
All the Luck in the World is a shop chock full of vintage, hand-made and new design. They have everything from furniture, to lamps, art, jewelry and clothing. Danish design is abundantly present. The owner is also a blogger and thus familiar with a lot of blogs and other bloggers. So while browsing you can catch up on all news and compare notes. – Gerard Doustraat 86 hs
De Kinderfeestwinkel
In de Kinderfeestwinkel (kidsparty shop), you can get everything, and I really mean everything, for a (kids)party. The store is stocked from floor to ceiling with party essentials in all colours and themes imaginable. From pompoms, to cupcake essentials, to party favours and paper straws. There is also a wedding department, and costumes for kids corner. The party supplies are alternated with vintage toys you can buy as presents. There is lots to see and buy, and I feel like a kid whenever I visit, so you might not want to bring a real kid with you. – Gerard Doustraat 65
Charlie + Mary and The Proud Otter Cafe
This is a shop and cafe combined. In the front you’ll find Charlie + Mary, with mens and women apparel, niche design and fashion magazines, and vintage fashion accessories and jewelry. In the back there is The Proud Otter Cafe for your daily shot of coffee, pastries, and organic food. – Gerard Doustraat 84
Poptasi
We don’t have a Laduree in Amsterdam but we’ve got Poptasi Pastry. The macarons are just as lovely as the French. And what I like even more are the macarons with a Dutch twist like the stroopwafel, liquorice and spekkoek. Other flavours that stand out are the limoncello, bubblicious and dulce de leche. – Gerard Doustraat 103
Hutspot
Hutspot is a store, lunchroom and coffeebar with fashion, design furniture, gifts, gourmet products and art in a two-storey building. Watch the video to get a feel of this eclectic and funky store. Everything you see is for sale, except for the dog… – Van Woustraat 4
