Earlier this month I had a lovely lunch with the two winners of my competition in December, to celebrate the 1000th blog post of 30s Magazine. Eating at MOMO had been on my wish list since 2008, but somehow I never got to it. So it was extra fun to take two of my readers there to try and test. MOMO restaurant, bar & lounge is part of the luxury Park Hotel and situated in the center of the city, just a stone throw from the casino, Leidseplein, and Rijksmuseum. The restaurant, with bar and lounge, is one of the trendiest restaurants in Amsterdam. It is the place to indulge in Asian cuisine in an en vogue interior.
Once inside MOMO you instantly feel the cosmopolitan atmosphere. Relaxing lounge music, Asian cooking scents from the open kitchen, and colourful lounge chairs tickle all the senses. This is going to be a lunch in style! White leather bar stools surround the sleek bar. Next to it, a small lounge are with mirrored tables and fun retro patterned loungers. On the other side there is plenty of room to have lunch/dinner with a view on the Singel. I loved the Kartell transparent chairs with a leather or patterned fabric finish. 
The menu holds a variety of Japanese dishes. As a starter we had a small miso soup. Then we all chose our own bento box. A bento box is a traditional Japanese lunch box divided into compartments. The goal with bento is to assemble a meal that is just as appealing to the eyes as it is to the taste buds. It’s not uncommon for Japanese mothers to prepare an elaborate boxed lunch, playfully and creatively decorated, to entice their children to eat all of their food when they’re at school. The great thing about the bento boxes at MOMO is that you can sample different things. We had the MOMO bento box with a crispy duck roll, marinated black cod with miso, pan fried scallop with Xo sauce and Jasmine rice, and the Sushi Bento Box with 3 types of fresh fish nigiri, Spicy tuna roll, Salmon avocado chirashi, and a Wakame seaweed salad. Both were outstanding! It was one of the best lunches I had in ages. All of us vowed to go back to MOMO for dinner in the near future. Loved it!
