The Hague Favourite: Walter Benedict

New urban bistro restaurants are popping up like mushrooms lately. The newest kid on the block in The Hague (Den Haag) is Walter Benedict on the chic and very popular Denneweg. The Café Bistro has a hip interior with a mix of contemporary and quintessential French design. One side of the space has a bare brick wall backdrop with typical French bistro chairs and bar stools. The other side of the space  is like the regular grand cafe but spruced up by a modern mural. My favourite part of the restaurant is the small garden where rattan chairs and benches are matched with tropical plants. It’s such a nice place to sit and have a drink. The food transports you to Paris, with the typical flavours and dishes you can expect from a French bistro. For breakfast think eggs Florentine, a Croque Monsieur, or croissants. For lunch you can opt for lobster bisque or ratatouille. The dinner menu has besides flamkuchen (not so French) chicken, burgers, tartare and fish. A must try when in the Hague. Do try their fresh green juice served in a bottle with straw! – Denneweg 69A
