Mykonos Restaurant Tip: The Greco Philia Restaurant & Bar

Perched on a steep hill at Elia Beach, with breathtaking views, sits The Greco Philia Restaurant & Bar. A lunch, aperitif, or dinner at this restaurant guarantees food with character. Since I stayed at the Greco Philia luxury boutique hotel, I got to sample multiple dishes. Their Mediterranean menu is ‘Greek fare with modern flair‘ as they eloquently like to put it. Expect fresh, local produce and homegrown vegetables and herbs. Indulge in home-baked bread, cheese and honey from local family farms, and daily hand-caught fish right out of the sea, and delivered just below the restaurant by their fisherman Stergios. It doesn’t get any fresher than that.

Cocktails, wines and spirits

All day you can enjoy the best cocktails, wines and spirits at the Greco Philia Bar. Especially between 17-20 hrs it is a relaxing way to end the day with a drink in the hand in the lounge chairs or at the cliffside bar, and a spectacular view on the setting sun and Aegean sea. My favourites? Their local Greek wines, the Balsamic Cocktail, and the cocktail with rose, guave and lychee.

Dinner

Dinner is served from 7 – 11 p.m. As an appetizer you can dive into fresh baked breadsticks and dips, olives, and capers. Besides typical Greek dishes like a Greek salad, Mykonian Sausage Souvlaki, and grilled calamari, there are many Mediterranean dishes that have a Greek touch with a modern approach. Think steamed seafood in white wine with lemon, garlic and fresh herbs. Or grilled lamb chops with celery root puree and rosemary garlic sauce. There is a wide choice of pastas, risotto, meat and seafood, and grilled vegetables. Pair it with a rosé or local wine, and you’re in for a treat. Best dish on the menu is however the freshly caught fish of the day with grilled vegetables.

Dining in Style

To please all the senses, the open air restaurant has an elegant decor of marble tables with traditional Greek accessories. On windy nights you can sit in the shielded area. All tables have views on the pool and sea.

Lunch

Lunch is served daily at the poolside or for guests in their suites/villas from 12-17 hrs. Fresh salads, sandwiches, burgers, and snacks abound. I tried the Greco Philia Club sandwich with grilled shrimp, grilled vegetables and avocado. So delicious! Or try the Greco Philia Burger which is so juicy and full of flavour on a house-made bun. Wash it away with a fresh watermelon juice or a rose mocktail.
