The most beautiful village in the Côte d’Azur : Bormes-les-Mimosas

Bormes-les-Mimosas

Tucked between the Mediterranean sea and the Maures mountains, on the route from Hyères to Saint Tropez, there is Bormes-les-Mimosas. The small medieval village, perched on the slopes of the coastal hills, is said to be the most beautiful village in the Var region of the Côte d’Azur. I have no trouble believing that, as I was indeed mesmerized by its beauty. The village is boasting with flowers, blooming bushes, and lush vegetation. Bormes-les-Mimosas is also the starting point of the famous 130 km ‘mimosa route’ that ends in Grasse. From January till March, the region turns yellow by the blooming mimosa and the fragrance of the mimosa fills the air. Spend a day in the twirling cobbled streets and adorable small alleys, and you’ll instantly fall in love with this charming French gem.

Parc du Cigalou

The tropical lush Parc du Cigalou is a peaceful haven with plenty of shady spots to take a rest and bask in the sun. The park is located in the heart of the village. Take a stroll through its pathways lined with eucalyptus, cedar trees, and palms. Take in the beauty of the many pergolas that are overgrowing benches and playgrounds for children. This park is nearly one hectare and a welcome space for relaxation and recreation. You will also discover a wonderful view of the sea and the Golden Islands.

Where to eat

Bormes-les-Mimosas is also packed with charming French restaurants and sun-drenched outside terraces. It won’t be hard to find a nice restaurant. I had an amazing lunch at the Belle Vue Restaurant. Their outside terrace has the best view in the village.

How to get there

Bormes-les-Mimosas is only a 5 minute drive from Le Lavandou and Plage de Saint Clair and approx an hour to 90 minutes from Saint Tropez. You’ll love the scenic drive up the hill. The roads are lined with palm trees and lush vegetation and blooming bushes. Once you arrive there is a free car parking, as the village is kept car-free except for designated traffic. The village is best explored on foot anyhow.
