Paris is packed with good brasseries, but on my last trip to the city of lights, I had dinner at a quite unique one. Brasserie Le Brebant at 32 Boulevard Poissonnière (metrostation Grand Boulevard) has a quirky, tropical meets vintage interior that caught my eye when looking for a place to eat. Later I found out that this brasserie is one of the oldest in the city dating back to 1865!
There’s an always busy outside terrace, that is great for people watching. In the split-level inside area it is a spectacle for the eyes with vintage mismatched chairs, basket lamps, an industrial ceiling, dangling light bulbs and floral wallpaper. And somehow, it works. At night, it is even very romantic as they dim the lights and highlight the ceiling. The menu consists of traditional French cuisine like le filet de daurade, le foie gras de canard or le tartare de bœuf. Le Brebant is not touristy at all, moreover I think I was the only non-Parisian there on a Friday night. Great place for lunch or dinner!
