Yesterday I blogged about my wonderful weekend escape to blooming hotel in Bergen. The highlights of the weekend were a memorable group dinner, and a relaxing lunch at their beach restaurant blooming beach. This is not the ordinary beach club where they serve greasy food and chips, but expect to be treated to finger-licking flavours and dishes with fresh ingredients. Whether you sit inside or on the outside terrace, you are guaranteed to find yourself in a chill mode by the time you are served the first order. [continue reading after jump]
Presentation is everything
Chief cook Thom Groenendal serves up the most beautiful, colorful plates. Inspired by his travels and global flavours he presents unpretentious, soul food made from scratch with an international sizzle. Think mackerel ceviche with avocado, bulgur, lime and red pepper. Or sample the salmon millefeuille with orange and tomatoes. My favourite was the portobello with regional goat cheese, bulgar and zucchini. The lamb was also a big winner. And did I mention the garlic gambas already? I literally loved everything!
Lunch
The next day we went back for lunch which was also a treat. Pokebowls, and burito bowls in the sun with the sound of the seagulls and waves in the background. Can it get any better than this?
