Hotspot: Mama Kelly Amsterdam

The buzz of Amsterdam last week was the highly anticipated opening of the restaurant Mama Kelly Amsterdam. It’s the pink sister of the edgy and more robust urban bistro Mama Kelly the Hague.  Being a regular customer in The Hague, I knew upfront that they would hit the ball out of the park with the decor. Designed by design studio De Horecafabriek, it’s interior is a girl’s dream. Everything is pink, floor to ceiling, to the velvet seats and the pink bar. Brass lamps and palms make it super elegant and chic. For some people it might look familiar. That’s because it has some similarities with the atmosphere of the pink room of London’s Restaurant Sketch. And just like the Mama Kelly in the Hague lobster and chicken are the signature dishes. But don’t panic because there is much more on the menu that will make you come back for more. However, I’ll stick to my favourite dish: the lobster with buttersauce.
