A Historical Journey of Flavours at Restaurant Sucede in Valencia

Restaurant Sucede Valencia

While staying at the Caro Hotel in Valencia, I also had dinner at their fine dining restaurant: Sucede. Dinner at Sucede guarantees a historical journey of flavours and ingredients. I had the Valencian sample menu that takes you on a journey through the different decades of the city with its different cultural influences. The small appetizer-size dishes take you from the Roman occupation, to the Arabic influences and ending with the Christian Spanish era. But not only the flavours transport you … [Read more...]

Dinner at Brooks Brasserie in Amsterdam

Brasserie Brooks Amsterdam

I have a new favourite restaurant in Amsterdam Oud Zuid: Brooks. With its super cozy atmosphere, a deer head and fire place, Brooks is the perfect go to restaurant after a day of Christmas shopping. The menu that changes regularly celebrates the season with yummie seasonal comfort food and desserts that make you crave for seconds. For starters my friend and I had a go at the crab cakes with fennel, Granny Smith apple and lemon mayonnaise. Nice but it didn't blow our minds. What did fire … [Read more...]

Restaurant La Régalade Conservatoire in Paris

La Régalade Conservatoire

Paris is packed with good restaurants, but the ones I love most are those where the locals go out to eat. La Régalade Conservatoire is one of those places. The restaurant is part of Hotel de Nell and located just off the Grand Boulevard in Rue du Conservatoire. The 'bistronomy' concept by Bruno Doucet is simple and stylish. The menu is down-to-earth and very accessible. With its multiple choice fixed price menu (€37 for a three-course meal) you can expect seasonal, local and traditional recipes … [Read more...]

Paris hotspot: Yeeels Restaurant & Bar

Last week I had lunch at Yeeels, a newly opened restaurant in Paris. The place consists of 2 levels. The top, street level floor is a restaurant, and the basement level is a bar and nightclub. The design is sophisticated and contemporary with velvet Gubi chairs, brass details, and marble accents, yet evokes a classic Parisian chic feel. Most impressive is a glamourous gleaming brass stairs between the two levels with an oversized lamp leading you towards it. I instantly fell in love with it. The … [Read more...]

Paris hotspot: Restaurant Daroco & Bar Danico

Daroco Paris

The latest buzz in Paris is the Italian restaurant Daroco and its adjacent cocktail bar Danico. Reason for me to go and check it out. Although I didn't eat there, I can vouch for their delicious cocktails, which I did sample. But what really sold me, was the interior design of this tratorria and cocktail bar. Daroco is located in the former flagship store of Jean Paul Gautier, neighbouring the gorgeous historical shopping arcade 'Gallerie Vivienne and opposite of the National Library of France. … [Read more...]

Hotspot Rotterdam: Cornelis Bar & Kitchen

Cornelis Rotterdam

Rotterdam has gained another top notch restaurant. Its name is Cornelis Bar & Kitchen. The 2-storey restaurant with large outside terrace and view on the cityhall, is a pleasant spot to spend summer days and nights. The menu by chief cooks IJsbrant Wilbrenninck and Karim Aggoun is boasting with high quality recipes like Dry aged Côte de Boeuf or Procureur of Berkshire pork grilled on coal for a rich and authentic flavour.  A big Robata Flame Barbecue Grill guarantees a food sensation to … [Read more...]

Hotspot Leiden: Brasserie Buitenhuis

Brasserie Buitenhuis Leiden

I have a new favourite hang-out: Brasserie Buitenhuis. This lakeside restaurant opened the beginning of July and is bound to become very popular, mark my words. Officially, the brasserie is located just across the border of the municipal Leiden, in adjacent village Valkenburg, but that's just a minor detail. Due to its location at the Valkenburger Lake, it attracts people from Leiden, Voorschoten, Valkenburg and Wassenaar. No matter where you're from, Brasserie Buitenhuis is a lake house for … [Read more...]
