On Fridays and in the weekends I love to go out for breakfast or brunch. Lately I have been trying out the breakfasts and brunch menus at hotel restaurants that are also open to non-hotel guests. Bistro style Pause at the Pulitzer Hotel is such an example. The bistro is a hidden jewel in the heart of Amsterdam. To get to Pause you need to cross the hotel lobby where you will be delighted by an airy, light and intimate bistro. The space is super elegant with velvet green Gubi chairs, green marble tables and a glass ceiling and large windows overlooking the courtyard and outside terrace.
The breakfast menu is extensive with different fruit and vegetable smoothies, fresh juices, eggs any style, pancakes, croissants, yoghurt with fresh fruit and granola and bread rolls with cold cuts. I can’t think of a better way to herald the weekend than with eggs benedict and a pain au chocolat. If you are really feeling festive add a glass of Cava by all means! Pause is such a welcome haven of rest in the busy and bustling center of Amsterdam.
In summer you can also opt to sit outside and have your breakfast or brunch on the terrace. It’s also a great spot for late night drinks as there are electric heaters.
