I feel completely zen and rejuvenated after a short weekend escape to the blooming Hotel in Bergen. Surrounded by a dune landscape with evergreen trees, nature trails, and the beach just around the corner, the blooming Hotel is the perfect retreat to unplug and enjoy all the area has to offer. What is more relaxing than waking up on the most comfortable bed ever (a coco mat bed), and opening the curtains to a see a wild rabbit hopping by beneath your window? True story! After a dip in the indoor pool, and a steamy sauna, we indulged in warm waffles and fresh fruit in one of the two breakfast restaurants. The rest of the day is best spent exploring the quaint village with its many boutiques and art galleries. Relax and unwind by hiking or cycling the nature trails, or head over to Bergen aan zee beach for an afternoon of basking in the sun.
The interior design
The interior design is colorful and contemporary, with clean lines and an artistic feel to it. Furniture from Vitra, design wire chairs, concrete lamps, bold and bright colours and the use of plants give the hotel a playful vibe. The blooming hotel is therefore inviting to all ages and demographics, from business travelers, corporate groups, to couples, and families with children. There’s even a play room for the little ones, and activities like pizza baking for kids.
At blooming it’s all in the details; At the entrance there are shelves with red boots for kids to forage in the woods. In the pool’s locker room there are encouraging quotes on the shower doors to tell you singing is o.k. Quirky details and fun elements make your hotel experience one to remember and talk about. Dinner
After all the day activities it’s time for some soul food. Blooming also has an estate and a beach club where they serve the best Mediterranean food I had in ages. More about that in tomorrow’s blog post!
