The countdown to the Academy awards has begun. Only a few more hours and we are treated to the gorgeous gowns on the red carpet and another epic award show. I haven’t seen all the movies yet, but from those I have seen, I already have a few favourites. Tonight I’m throwing a small Oscars viewing party for friends so I’ve made some simple snacks, and I have a themed snacks and drinks station so everyone can help themselves.
Chocolate cake stars and popcorn
Bake a basic chocolate cake and cut it lengthway. Use a star cookie cutter to create these chocolate cake stars. Make salty as well as sweet popcorn and put them in boxes to give your guest that movie theatre feel. (I bought these boxes at Flying Tiger)
Decorate your snacks and drinks station with red tea roses and themed accessories. Choose a colour scheme that makes a glamourous statement like black-white-gold and red.
Cocktails and spritzers
Serve cocktails and spritzers and use different colored ribbons to mark the glasses.
Puff pastry and cheese stars
Another super simple snack are puff pastry stars. Again, you need a star cookie cutter to cut out stars from puff pastry. Put them on an oven tray and sprinkle some grated cheese on top of them. 15 Minutes in the oven, and voilà, you have a delicious snack. Make small cones from gold paper to present them nicely and to add glitter to the party.Red velvet something
Bake red velvet cake, donuts, or muffins to add more red to your red carpet experience. Get the recipe here

I hope you’ll enjoy tonight’s red carpet and award show. I’m rooting for Julianne Moore to win Best Actrice because I loved her performance in Still Alice. My favourite movie so far of what’ I’ve seen is Selma. And Merryl Streep was, as always, outstanding in her role as supporting actress in Into the Woods. Lastly, Maleficient is a clear winner for me for costume designs! Have fun!
Such amazing ideas!!! I want an invitation to this one too…haha😃
