When visiting Mykonos you will not have a hard time finding a restaurant in the quaint old town. The cobbled streets are boasting little taverns and seaside terraces overlooking the harbour. However, for those who have a hard time to decide, I’ve made a top 5 list of must-try, serving authentic cuisine, eateries in Mykonos city.
1. Mamalouka
This restaurant is hidden in an inner courtyard, romantically lit at night, where you can indulge in typical Greek mezzes, fresh fish, meat and authentic Greek dishes. The charming patio is open for lunch and dinner. Do try their risotto and stuffed chicken with feta!
2. Nikos
A busy old skool taverna which spills out into the square behind the town hall and serves authentic Greek food like Mousaka, seafood and meat. Simple yet a good place to taste the authentic flavours. Try the grilled meat and the mousakka, you’ll enjoy it!
3. Opa Kostas
For scrumptious grilled fish and meat, and fresh Greek salads head over to this quintessential Greek tavern. It’s like taking a seat at a Greek family’s table.
It’s imaginable that you might get bored from eating Greek food for a week. Luckily, Mykonos town also has other cuisines, like Pasta Fresca where they serve fresh homemade pastas, pizzas and Italian dishes. They certainly know how to lure in the guests with beautiful displays of their pastas outside.
5. Olla
Tucked away in an alley in Little Venice, you’ll find Olla. The restaurant has an authentic tavern interior while the bar is super trendy with industrial elements. In the back you sit near the water with a stunning view on the harbour and sunset. They serve Mediterranean cuisine, and their desserts are hands down the best!
