Mykonos Restaurant Tip: The Greco Philia Restaurant & Bar

Greco Philia Restaurant

Perched on a steep hill at Elia Beach, with breathtaking views, sits The Greco Philia Restaurant & Bar. A lunch, aperitif, or dinner at this restaurant guarantees food with character. Since I stayed at the Greco Philia luxury boutique hotel, I got to sample multiple dishes. Their Mediterranean menu is 'Greek fare with modern flair' as they eloquently like to put it. Expect fresh, local produce and homegrown vegetables and herbs. Indulge in home-baked bread, cheese and honey from … [Read more...]

Hotel to Heart: Greco Philia Hotel Boutique in Mykonos

Greco Philia Mykonos

During my vacation on Mykonos, in the first week of June, I stayed at the Greco Philia Hotel Boutique on Elia Beach. Perched on a steep hill overlooking the sunkissed waters of the Aegean Sea, it is the perfect luxury escape. The hotel consists of 30 luxury suites and villas, some with private pools or jacuzzi. All suites and villas have unique interior designs. The main theme of the boutique hotel is art. Each accommodation is named after a painter and you'll see beautiful art and statues … [Read more...]

Mykonos Favourite Beach: Elia Beach

Mykonos beaches are famed all over the world. Most popular are the party beaches Paradise and Super Paradise where you get to rub elbows with celebrities and dance to the tunes of international DJs. But these two beaches aren't necessarily the best beaches on the island. Moreover, they are anything but family-friendly, loud, and overcrowded. The beaches on the northern coast of the island are less organized and ideal to enjoy some peace and calm. I have visited several calm beaches and party … [Read more...]

Barefoot Bliss at the San Giorgio Mykonos Hotel – part 1

When you drive up towards the San Giorgio Hotel on the Greek island Mykonos, and enter the gate, it doesn't feel like you are arriving at a hotel. Instead, it feels like you are arriving at a friend's villa. The bright white blocks are surrounded by rustic stone walls that blend in with the typical Greek surroundings. In front of the property a few sheep are grazing in the field. As you enter the reception area you are welcomed by a gorgeous looking Greek lady who helps us with the familiar … [Read more...]

Barefoot Bliss at the San Giorgio Mykonos Hotel – part 2

Ever been in a design hotel where luxury is considered walking barefoot across the property, eating at communal tables and sleeping in a room without a TV? Earlier this week, in part 1, I featured the interior of the San Giorgio Mykonos Hotel and an exclusive interview with the designer. The exterior is just as impressive and blissful, maybe even more. The poolside is where it is all happening really. Here is where you find the bar restaurant Cantina where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner … [Read more...]

Mykonos seafront restaurant tip: Tasos Taverna at Paraga Beach

Two of the best lunches I had on Mykonos were at the beach at seafront restaurant Tasos Taverna on Paraga beach. The quiet Paraga Beach is only a short walk from the hotel I stayed the San Giorgio Hotel. The super cute tavern with its pretty flowers and charming decor is said to be the oldest tavern on the island. I didn't have dinner at the tavern but I can imagine its romantic ambiance at sunset with the sound of the sea in the background. You can either sit in the sand, or at a table upstairs … [Read more...]
