Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, has been a perfume town ever since the 17th century. The small town is only a 20 minutes drive from Cannes, set in the mountains. It is home to the three historic perfume manufacturers: Fragonard, Molinard, and Galimard. All three open their doors for guided tours to educate the more than two million annual tourists about the mysteries of making perfume. You will learn how a perfume is made, from the raw materials, the distillation process, to the perfume. I decided to visit the Fragonard museum and shop.
The museum is best enjoyed by taking a guided tour. After the tour expect to spend a lot of time in the shop where you get to sniff and spray, and try on fragrant creams. From soaps, to home scent diffusers and pretty linen sachets, it’s all there in many different scents. You will not leave empty-handed!
After visiting one of the perfume manufacturers do explore the quaint little town with its cobbled streets and hidden alleys. There are fountains, flowers and cute little shops everywhere.
Lovely, brings back memories of my visit to Grasse and the Fragonard Perfumery years back. It is a lovely part of France and the perfumes are beautiful. Thanks for sharing
