Noordwijk is one of the Netherlands’ best beach resorts, if you ask me. Since it’s close to my home, I go to Noordwijk quite often. Besides the long stretch beach and popular beach clubs like De Branding, or Beach Club O, it also has a few nice restaurants, coffee bars and shops, like e.g. Jackie Cafe & Conceptstore. A weekend or vacation in Noordwijk is therefore a perfect retreat to unwind and relax. Design- and boutique hotel Vesper has my vote as the best option to lay your head to rest. Why? See for yourself:
The hotel, once a run down hotel located direct on the beach, was taken over by Michiel and Martijn van den Berg. The brothers have en- listed the help of architect Bart Akkerhuis of the Paris based Studio Akkerhuis, in collaboration with Miriam Irle and Studio Molter, both from Munich, to transform the exterior and interior of what was the former Hotel Clarenwijck, originally built in 1904.
An open space lobby and bar, that runs lengthwise and enables ocean views from every corner of the space, has a contemporary interior with blue and ochre yellow hues as the accent colours. The designers used brass details, marble tables and sleek lines to give it a sophisticated and elegant vibe.
The outside terrace is heavenly with a view on the shore. It’s a lovely place to have breakfast or drinks. There are also sunbeds for guests who like privacy or try to avoid sand between their toes.
The 27 bedrooms are all decorated differently in a variety of colours; from red, to magenta and blue.Special features as flush bathtubs and show- ers in front of a sea view window add to the uniqueness of each room. The handmade pillows and beds are especially designed for the Vesper.
