It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… In fact, I had my Christmas tree trimmed and perky on the first Advent Sunday. I already showed you how to prepare a floral themed Christmas decor by making moodboards that define the style and colour scheme. The floral wrapped gifts were revealed earlier this week. So now it’s time to uncover how to create a floral home decor that doesn’t evoke a spring feel, but a winter atmosphere. There are 2 ways to go: either rustic or chic. I made a mix of both to give you ideas for both styles.
Floral Chic Christmas decorations
Use one lane of floral wall paper as a backdrop to create a nice vignette with candles and tea lights. Or put a bloom in a glass pot and combine it with Christmas ornaments. Group candles and different sizes of vases with a variety of flowers and you’ll instantly have an interesting Christmas scene. A super hot trend this season is to hang flowers. By alternating them with baubles and ornaments you create a sort of chandelier.
A Floral and Rustic Christmas
When I think of rustic, I think reindeer, wood, owls, and a forest cabin with white washed wooden furniture at the front door. Adorn the rustic accessories with flowers and you get a colorful rustic Christmas. Tie branches together with rope into a star, add lights and evergreen and voila, you have a Christmas star for inside or at the front door. Adorn your reindeer head with flowers and ribbons, and instead of a green wreath, opt for a branch wreath with flowers.
Stay tuned, because I will also be sharing a Christmas table setting with a floral theme next week!
