Trend: Floral wallpaper

Are you longing for spring as much as I do? It can't come soon enough for me. The damp and cold weather makes many of us flock to home to hibernate and keep warm. So it's no wonder that winter is also the time when many start redecorating as we are spending much of our spare time inside and start to notice the imperfections in the home. The easiest way to spruce up your decor is by changing an accent wall with a new covering. This season's trend plays right into that longing for spring with … [Read more...]

Trend: Furniture with Fringes

Exotic and happy influences are taking over home decor in 2018. And one of those influences are fringes. It's a bit retro yet reintroduced in a manner that it doesn't look granny-like. Combined with brass, velvet and silk, fringes add a touch of chic to your interior. Combine it with bold vibrant colours and tropical prints for a more fun and ecclectic look. The old charm of lamp shades with fringes is reinterpreted in lamps with a contemporary shape and form. What do you think? Will this trend … [Read more...]

Trend: Art Deco Patterned Wallpaper

If I were to name my most loved interior design styles I would say Art Deco, Hollywood Regency style, and Coastal. To my loyal readers this should come as no big surprise because I have written about Art Deco before e.g. about the Art Deco exhibition I visited two months ago, or Miami's Art Deco tour on South Beach. So to find out that Art Deco is 2018's interior trend is such a delight to me. Although it's a contemporary interpretation of the original early 1900s style, it still adapts the … [Read more...]

Trend: Furniture with cane webbing

cane webbing sofa

Move over wicker and rotan because cane webbing is taking over home decors. It might take a while for this design revival to grow on people. I can imagine one has to get used to the comeback of this golden oldie from the 1980s. But then again, the 80's were in fact also a renaissance period because cane webbing was first introduced in home decor in colonial ages. It is a typical Indonesian artisan. If I come to think of it, my great aunt, age 95, who lives on Curacao has dining chairs and a … [Read more...]
