After visiting last week’s Amsterdam interior design expo, the VT Wonen Design Beurs, my decorating itch flamed up. The expo always has that effect on me. I instantly want to redecorate and start changing things up in my home. Home decor magazine Ariadne at Home never disappoints in creating a beautiful model house at the exposition. This year it was a nostalgic family home.
Heirlooms and vintage finds
The model home was decorated with old and historical elements like a pink marble mantelpiece, an old iron staircase and handmade tiles. Furthermore, the house was full of heirlooms and vintage finds, romantic wallpapers and a warm inviting colour palette. Teak wooden shutters and folding curtains created a playful light scheme. Dried flowers and touches of rattan accessories brought in a natural and airy touch.
Kitchen
The kitchen is romantic but also robust with the massif birch wood counter top. Beautiful table linnen and wooden utensils give it a country style look. I loved the Asian style lantern lamp above the dining table and the uniquely pale pink wall that reminded me of Moroccan paint techniques in Marrakech.
Bedroom
The master bedroom with linnens from By Mölle, seemed like a true sanctuary. Above the headboard the wall is adorned by hand-illustrated prints from Tiny Stories. In a shadowbox on the wall you can see heirloom baby shoes and a heirloom wedding top is on display on the wardrobe. The colour scheme of natural colours creates tranquility.
Bathroom
The bathroom is inspired by a British country style bathroom. Groundbreaking is the water resistant wallpaper in the shower called Domaso Nude by Puck B from Behangfabriek.com
