Summer Party Food Ideas

I love to throw summer parties. However, lately I have been so swamped with work that I haven’t had the time to plan one for my friends. Nonetheless I do collect ideas for delicious bites and snacks at other events and parties which I can use or alter for my own parties at a later time. This week I had two business related occasions where they served the most delicious, – and not so difficult to make myself – summer bites. Moreover, I think they were worth sharing with you. After all, the summer season beckons for lots of garden parties, picnics, and barbecues, and thus also creative and fresh summer foods.

A super easy summer snack to present to your guests is a platter of vegetables with a yoghurt based dipping sauce like e.g. mint-yoghurt or dill-yoghurt. It’s healthy, refreshing, and has a nice bite.

Watermelon with cheese

Watermelon is great as an appetizer or snack when stacked and combined with feta cheese and mint. Do you prefer to serve triangles? Then top the slices with a more sweeter and softer goat cheese crumble.

Baby lettuce with hummus

For more bite and freshness you could serve baby lettuce with a spicy, roasted red pepper hummus. (Get the recipe here)

Mozarella
Season a high quality mozarella, with a nice sweet and sour dressing and herbs. Add a sweet cherry tomato, put it in a ramekin bowl and voila, you have a summer snack.

Crostinis with home-made spreads

Cover your crostinis with a spread of goatcheese and mint, or a roasted pumpkin and chickpea spread. Embellish them with edible flowers to give them that extra pop of colour.

Smoked salmon

Smoked salmon marinated overnight in a spicy soy dressing, seasoned and topped with crispy sea weed. It’s so simple, yet so delicious.
