A Paris Favourite: Le Petit Palais

Petit Palais

One of my favourite spots in Paris is Le Petit Palais. The small palace houses the Parisian Museum of Fine Arts (Musée des beaux-arts de la ville de Paris). Besides the beautiful, small collection of art pieces, it is also worth a visit because of its stunning architecture.  Arched windows, a dramatic stairway, mosaic floors, and painterly ceilings draw you in. The palace is built around a breath-taking courtyard, with impressive pillars and an even more impressive ceiling. A walk through and … [Read more...]

Paris hotspot: Brasserie Le Brebant

Le Brebant Paris

Paris is packed with good brasseries, but on my last trip to the city of lights, I had dinner at a quite unique one. Brasserie Le Brebant at 32 Boulevard Poissonnière (metrostation Grand Boulevard) has a quirky, tropical meets vintage interior that caught my eye when looking for a place to eat. Later I found out that this brasserie is one of the oldest in the city dating back to 1865! There's an always busy outside terrace, that is great for people watching. In the split-level inside area it … [Read more...]

Top 5 Favourite Breakfast spots in Paris

Ob-La-Di Paris

The more I get to know Paris, the more I like it. The charm of the city already captivates me early in the morning when I go out for breakfast. Whether you go to a small coffee place, or a hip restaurant, having breakfast in Paris is always special. I love how laid-back and paced they enjoy their first meal of the day. The coffee is always good, and well, I don't have to explain how good their bread and pastries are. Today I would like to share my 5 favourite spots for breakfast so far, because … [Read more...]

Restaurant La Régalade Conservatoire in Paris

La Régalade Conservatoire

Paris is packed with good restaurants, but the ones I love most are those where the locals go out to eat. La Régalade Conservatoire is one of those places. The restaurant is part of Hotel de Nell and located just off the Grand Boulevard in Rue du Conservatoire. The 'bistronomy' concept by Bruno Doucet is simple and stylish. The menu is down-to-earth and very accessible. With its multiple choice fixed price menu (€37 for a three-course meal) you can expect seasonal, local and traditional recipes … [Read more...]

Hotel to Heart: Hotel de Nell in Paris

Hotel de Nell

Earlier this month I went to Paris for the Paris Design week. And as always I stayed in a design hotel that exceeded my expectations. I stayed at Hôtel de Nell, located just a 5-minute walk from Grand Boulevard. The 5-star design hotel is the sister hotel of the Benkiraï hotel where I stayed in Saint Tropez. And like the Benkiraï you can expect top-end service, discreet luxury and a chic but very relaxed atmosphere. Intimate and quiet atmosphere Hôtel de Nell counts 33 rooms, which is … [Read more...]

Paris hotspot: Yeeels Restaurant & Bar

Last week I had lunch at Yeeels, a newly opened restaurant in Paris. The place consists of 2 levels. The top, street level floor is a restaurant, and the basement level is a bar and nightclub. The design is sophisticated and contemporary with velvet Gubi chairs, brass details, and marble accents, yet evokes a classic Parisian chic feel. Most impressive is a glamourous gleaming brass stairs between the two levels with an oversized lamp leading you towards it. I instantly fell in love with it. The … [Read more...]

Paris hotspot: Restaurant Daroco & Bar Danico

Daroco Paris

The latest buzz in Paris is the Italian restaurant Daroco and its adjacent cocktail bar Danico. Reason for me to go and check it out. Although I didn't eat there, I can vouch for their delicious cocktails, which I did sample. But what really sold me, was the interior design of this tratorria and cocktail bar. Daroco is located in the former flagship store of Jean Paul Gautier, neighbouring the gorgeous historical shopping arcade 'Gallerie Vivienne and opposite of the National Library of France. … [Read more...]
