Today I’m sharing another gem in my list of great hotels I stayed in. The Penha Longa Hotel and Golf resort is a unique luxury hotel nestled in the rolling Sintra mountains near Lisbon and in the Estoril coastal region. It is the perfect getaway place to enjoy tranquility and rejuvenate in a natural surrounding, yet close enough to the beach, Sintra village and 30 minutes away from Lisbon. The resort is built in palazzo style and houses on an estate of the 14th century. The estate includes a landmark monastery. In 1353, Friar Vasco Martins chose the site for a magnificent monastery, and through the years it has been a frequent retreat of Portuguese royal and foreign dignitaries. The grounds are spectacular with beautiful flowers, lush gardens, historical elements, forest and walking routes to explore nature. And since I also play golf and am a fervent spa visitor, I could appreciate the golf court and lavish Six Senses Spa as an extra perk. [continue reading after photos]
I stayed in a premium room with a separate seating area and private balcony with scenic view on the hills and estate. In the marble bathroom bottles of BVLGARI are lined up to pamper yourself. Truly a regal escape with authentic historical adornments, nature and a peaceful atmosphere. It was total bliss.
