I’m still in love with everything Ibride. Last year I already shared my crush on the beautiful French design brand (read here). When I visited the Maison et Objet design exhibition in September, I immediately went to their booth to finally see the plates, bowls and trays up close and personal. Ibride designs are animated multi-functional objects in the realm of illustrated tales. The products are made of melanine but have such a romantic, sophisticated appearance, that it looks like ceramics. The illustrations are like art, hence they also call it their portrait gallery.
Nostalgic and colorful fables come to life and interact with our imagination on bowls, plates and trays. I love the Ida range depicting an emblematic muse. It is solely the charge of the pictorial intervention which brings the portrait to life, and modifies the emotion. Lined up as an art gallery, the trays seem more art pieces than kitchen ware.
An old favourite of mine in a new peonies design is the Faux-semblant (make-believe) Ming vase. The object reminds you of a Chinese vase, but is in fact a stack of six bowls. Love it!
