Hip Hang-out in St Tropez: Le Bar d’O

Le Bar d'O Saint Tropez

A visit to Saint Tropez isn’t complete without “beaching” in style. So that’s exactly what I did while vacationing in the glamourous town. My hotel, the Benkiraï Hotel, was only a 5 minute drive from the famous Pampelonne beach, where all the beach clubs and seaside restaurants are. Since I already visited the best lunch spot – Club 55 – last year, I decided to check out another one this time, and also have lunch there: Le Bar d’O.

Le Bar d'O Saint Tropez

Le Bar d’O is an Italian restaurant and beach club. The name derives from Brigitte Bardot, and the decor is also inspired by the actress. After parking on the private parking lot (€4,50), you enter the club through a long open-air corridor spruced up with flowers, little fountains, and plants.

Next, I was welcomed with a smile in the most charming beach club I had ever seen: On the right, a swimming pool, surrounded by day beds with fluffy pillows. In front of me the bar and on my left the restaurant with pink checkered table cloths, and adorable flower pots.

The Beach

Le Bar d’O doesn’t have its own beach and is right of the nudist part of Pampelonne beach, so be prepared. Considering that Brigitte Bardot wasn’t too shy either and was the restaurant’s muse, that didn’t come as a surprise to me, and didn’t bother me. I decided to plant myself on one of the day beds at the pool for the day, and sip on mocktails.

Lunch

Around noon I had a seat at one of the tables with a view on the beach and sun-kissed waters. I had a divine chicken with truffles, mashed potatoes with mushrooms, and salad with honey-mustard dressing. Like the French, I had a local rosé to wash it all down in style.
