I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas already. This year has really flew by. Like each year I would like to give my readers a peek into my home to show you how I’ve decorated for the holiday season. The decorations have been up a week now, and I’m still adding touches every day. I haven’t styled my dining table yet so I can only show you part of my home. This year I opted for a white and gold theme with touches of petrol blue. Gold instantly adds chic to the decor, even though you don’t have to break the bank.
Touches of petrol blue
I have a small selection of peacock decorations but not enough to fill up a tree. So I decided to display my ornaments in a vase and group them with gold Christmas trees I found at Action for cheaper than cheap. I also got a little crafty by painting a branch white, putting on a string of pine cones and adding two candles. Voilà, your own DIY candle holder.
Bar station
On my console I permanently have my bar station with the basics. I only added a few more black and gold dotted straws from Hema. Hema really stepped up this year with loads of chic gold decorations. The miniature gold Bottega champagne bottle can be bought at de Bijenkorf and the brass tray is from H&M Home 2015 collection. Last year I bought the limited edition Amaretto bottle that I can’t part with, so I just refill it.
My Christmas tree
My tree is filled with baubles I already had. Most of them are white, but there are also a few gold ones in there. I might add more in the coming days as I’m bound to find new ones when I go shopping. To make it extra festive I surrounded my tree with honeycombs and a soft sheep skin from IKEA. I always wrap my gifts in the same colour scheme to keep it coherent and chic.
Baubles and ornaments with a memory
I find it very important to include baubles and ornaments with a story or that elicit a memory. My most treasured ornament is my Winnie de Pooh ornament that I bought at Disney World Florida in 1988. It brings back all the fun memories of that vacation.
Coffee table
On my coffee table I have a tray with candles, coasters, and a brass serving stand with chocolates. Always add greenery or flowers to balance it out. After taking this photo I also added a hyacinth flower bulb to make it a bit more lively.
