Being a major Audrey Hepburn fan, I couldn’t be more excited about an exhibition than about Hubert de Givenchy: To Audrey with Love. From 26 November 2016 till 26 March 2017, the Gemeente museum The Hague is home to this awe-inspiring showcase. Legendary French couture designer de Givenchy pays tribute to his muze and style icon Audrey Hepburn. The exhibition is a retrospect of his work and was curated in close collaboration with the man himself. He even selected some of his most beloved creations that were never shown to the public before. It therefore gives an unique insight in his designs spanning from the opening of Maison de Givenchy in 1952 till 1995.
Givenchy’s friendship and collaboration with Audrey Hepburn dates back to 1953. Hepburn wore de Givenchy’s creations in her most renowned movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and How to steal a Million. The exhibition consists of many of Hepburn’s worn designs, but also puts on display de Givenchy’s sketches, Hepburn photos and film material, and classic movie posters and magazine covers that she adorned.
