Café Georgette: A slice of Parisian chic in the heart of Amsterdam

I instantly fell in love with the interior design of Café Georgette on my first visit in April. Since then, it has become one of my favourite places to go for coffee in Amsterdam. Once inside you imagine yourself to be in Paris. Café Georgette, the baby sister of popular Café George, has all the ingredients that the brasseries in the French capital have. Its chic interior with marble, brass, metro tiles and velvet benches exudes timeless elegance. Flos lights and a breezy, soft colour palette give it a sophisticated ooze. The Missoni zigzag print chairs inject a feminine flair. The design can be credited to design studio Framework who also created another favourite of mine; Café Waldeck.

Rubbing elbows with celebs

The menu is not too fancy yet packed with classic dishes like oysters, steak tartare and the signature George tuna pizza. You can ring in the day with breakfast, have a leisurely lunch or go there for dinner.

Café Georgette is situated in the most expensive street of the city, the P.C. Hooftstraat, so don’t be surprised if you run into a Dutch celebrity. Last time I was sitting across from world renowned soccer player and – coach Ruud Gullit for example. However I have to say that the place is not over-prized at all, but just as what you would expect in Amsterdam.
