Book review: Christmas with Fräulein Klein

If you buy any book this month, then you must buy the latest book of popular lifestyle blogger Yvonne Bauer, a.k.a. Fräulein Klein. Her book Weihnachten mit Fräulein Klein, published by Callwey, is yet another masterpiece boasting with DIY ideas, baking recipes, table settings, decorations and craft projects for the holidays. While her first book, which I reviewed last year (read here) was an inspirational source for all seasons, her second book focuses on Advent, Christmas and New Year’s eve. The book has ten chapters: Advent decorations – with DIY advent calendars, candle arrangements and small DIY inspiration to spruce up your home during the advent time. The second chapter takes you to the kitchen where you’ll prepare typical winter delicacies like warm punches, and candy apples. The third chapter shows how you can get your kids involved in some fun crafting projects to decorate the house. The fourth chapter encourages you to create gifts in the kitchen, just like I did last year with my chocolate spoons and home made cookies and cranberry sauce.

Of course a chapter dedicated completely to cookies couldn’t lack. Ever tried cheesecake cookies? Or Apricot stars with brandy glace? Fraulein Klein also inspires us with out-of-the-box gift wrapping ideas to make them extra special this year. And let’s not forget her jaw dropping table scapes and Christmas tree decorations.

Although the book is in German, I would highly recommend it to anyone, even if you don’t understand German. The many photos speak for themselves and you will be able to reproduce a lot without reading a word. And besides, there is always google translate, right?
