Athens hot spot: Da Vinci Gelato in Monastiraki

What is a holiday without ice cream? Athens’ temperatures can get really high, leaving you hot and longing for something to refresh and cool down. After a visit to the historical sites, and a shopping spree in Monastiraki, I discovered the newly opened Italian ice cream parlour Da Vinci Gelato on the corner of Hadrian (no 50). The parlour is the third one in Greece, following Mykonos and Santorini. I was drawn by its vintage interior and the apparel of the ice-scoopers in fifties apparel, transporting you back to an old Italian village. They also sell beautifully wrapped chocolate bars and gift boxes with vintage prints.

At Da Vinci they use fresh milk and only Greek products. All recipes are based on authentic Italian recipes. They only use fresh ingredients, without fat, preservatives or other additives or dyes, which makes it super tasteful and healthy. I tried pistacchio, vanilla and blood orange. Loved the flavours!
