Me-time and lowering the bar

I hardly ever write about my private life, because although I love to share my travel experiences, recipes and products I have and use, I do feel there are boundaries to what I share and what is private. As you might have noticed, if you’re a regular reader, is that I’m blogging less than you’re used to. At the beginning of 2015 I made one, and only one resolution: more me-time and lowering the bar. Especially bloggers tend to feel obliged to be on top of everything. We are always on the look out for trends, new things, and pretty frames to photograph. Additionally we have to stay educated and informed about social media, how to brand our blog, collaborate and network with partners, learn to photograph better, and so forth. But even if you’re not a blogger, I bet it sounds familiar to any woman who is juggling many balls. Am I right? [continue after jump]laduree

So I’m taking more me-time, and I have lowered the bar. How? I’m spending less time on social media because I noticed it makes me restless. Also, I only blog when I feel like blogging, after all, the world doesn’t stop if I skip one day, does it. And, I take more time for the things I love, and I savour the moments even more as life’s little luxuries. I started to plan daily tea moments with macarons or French pastries instead of having your coffee or tea on the go or while doing something else. I go to the spa more often to get a massage. I watch more movies. Yesterday I had a 3-hour lunch with a friend at the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam. I’ve taken up a calligraphy course to do something creative that doesn’t involve a computer or screen.

So my little luxury tip for today is to take more me-time and lower the bar for yourself. It works for me, and I’m happy I did. If you do miss my blog daily, follow me on instagram where I do share photos of my me-time and daily luxury moments. And now it’s time for tea!laduree 2

    1. Dank je Evelyne! Ben al een tijd niet in de Beethovenstraat geweest, en je thee-cadeau ook helemaal vergeten op te halen. Hopelijk tot snel en leuk dat je mij nog steeds volgt

  2. I am only blogging as a hobby but I totally get what you’re talking about. I feel the same kind of pressure sometimes as well, so then I have to take a step back, find my balance and remember what it’s all about to begin with. Thank you for sharing 🙂

  3. I totally understand how you feel Louise. Kudos to you! Social media can drive me crazy. I’m starting to love Instagram a lot more and Pinterest has always been a favorite of mine.
