Dinner at Villa Asina in Datça, Turkey

While the days are getting colder and shorter here I’m longing to return to Datça in Turkey where it’s still summer and 23°C. I felt so relaxed and at home in this fairly unspoilt part of Turkey. The Turkish food was hands down one of the best things about the trip. On our second night in Turkey, we were invited to have dinner at Villa Asina. The small boutique hotel that has 17 unique rooms, is located just outside the city center on top of a hill and overlooking the Aegan sea. Dinner is daily served at 8 p.m. but I would recommend going a bit earlier to explore the hotel and its beautiful garden. The hotel interior is like a museum with large collections of precious antiques, and memorabilia the owners brought home from their travels. The garden is tranquil and charming with breathtaking views. We arrived at dusk which created a pink glow on my photos.

Dinner was so lovely! As we were sitting in the garden under a star-filled sky, we were served cold and warm mezzes, which are small dishes. I can’t recall all the names but one of my favourites was beans with cinnamon. It was a mixture of different foods, flavours and textures. The service was impeccable. Everything was perfectly explained and we felt so pampered. Unfortunately it was too dark to take good photos. You just have to take my word for it that the food is goood!
