One of my top 3 favourite hotels in the world is the 5* Anantara Resort & Spa in Hua Hin, Thailand. It was one of the most relaxing hotel experiences ever. The Anantara in Hua Hin offers luxury, tranquility, top service, great food, and amazing spa treatments, all set in an awe-inspiring setting and stylish interior. It’s seaside luxury and pampering all the way!
The Anantara Hua Hin Resort is located in the south of Thailand. Hua Hin, is a small seaside town, mostly known because the Thai royals have their retreat here. It is however a perfect base to plan excursions to the Bridge over the River Kwai, elephant trekking, and the floating market. The entrance of the hotel village is already a beautiful sight with statue elephants welcoming you in.
The gardens
The hotel is right beside the beach, and is designed in the style of an ancient Thai village. I think I took more than a hundred photos of the picture perfect premises and gardens which are the work of the gardens landscape designer Bill Bensley. Pretty cobbled pathways, surrounded with lush tropical plants and flowers, lead you to the village-style built rooms and suites. Everywhere you look you see pretty statues, blooming flowers, and hidden seating areas where you can unwind and take in the surroundings, or just read a book. The sound of fountains, small streams, and fluttering birds make you feel like you’re in heaven.
The rooms and amenities
There are 187 rooms and suites, and we were fortunate enough to stay in the 50 m2 Club Lagoon room that gives you access to the private lagoon swimming pool. The Club Lagoon rooms are spacious and private, with a balcony overlooking the gardens and the lotus covered lagoon. You can imagine what breakfast on the balcony felt like… A luxurious Thai décor features fine silks and hardwood floors, while the spacious bathroom comes with a separate shower and Anantara terrazzo tub.
Besides the private Lagoon swimming pool and bar, there is also another pool, tennis courts, and cookery school. There are multiple restaurants, and don’t forget to experience one of their afternoon teas! Their seaside breakfast is the perfect start to any given day with fresh fruits, warm and cold foods.
The Spa
What I actually enjoyed most of my stay at the Anantara Hua Hin were the spa treatments. The spa treatment rooms were like small gardens you’d enter via a large gate, leading to an open air space again with lush plants, open air showers to sit under, flower filled baths, and gorgeous styling. The massages were heavenly! Each treatment started and ended with herbal tea, and fresh fruit. It was pampering to the extreme!
I would love to stay at some of the other Anantara resorts too. Maybe this summer, we’ll see. It was an experience I would gladly do over, that is for sure.
