If I were in the vicinity of Charleston I would definitely go to this year’s designer showhouse. I have been swooning over the pictures of the house on instagram and the internet. An old Charleston townhouse is totally refurbished and decorated by designers like Mitchell Hill, The English Room, & more. The Henry Street House at 36 Society St., will be open to the public until April 15.
The Revival-style home originates from 1804, but was destroyed in what is known as the “Great Fire of 1838.” Following the fire, the house was rebuilt on the basement of the original building. With its beautiful decorative plaster ceilings, original moldings and fireplaces, gracious rooms and dramatic double piazzas, the interior designers embarked on a journey of creativity and colour. The result is awe-inspiring. Each room has its own character and signature. Classic elements, glamourous details and contemporary furniture are effortlessly mixed and matched.
