I never thought I would write about a vacuum cleaner, and I certainly don’t want to come of as a tel sell tv commercial. But vacuuming my house has never been more easy since I have the Dyson DC 45 Digital Slim. It’s so handy and enables you to vacuum more quickly so I actually vacuum more often now than before. The Digital Slim comes in two colours, pink and blue ( I have the pink), and at first sight might look a bit Star Wars. But once you have it, it grows on you.
Let me break down the advantages:
1. It’s cordless
The Digital Slim has a built in battery you can easily charge. You can manoeuvre through the whole house without changing outlets. You can even take it outside to vacuum your car, or cushions of the garden furniture.
2. It’s bagless
The conventional vacuum cleaners use a bag that can clog and cause suction to drop. Instead of bags, Dyson vacuums use patented cyclone technology. Powerful centrifugal forces spin dust and dirt out of the air and into the bin with no loss of suction. And ofcourse it saves you money because you never have to purchase a bag again. The bin on the Dyson is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying and how much dust and dirt the machine has captured. Just hold the reservoir above your bin and push the button to release the dirt.
3. It’s compact and light-weight
It has a detachable long-reach wand, which is balanced for floor to ceiling cleaning. The detachable wand is made from lightweight aluminium. It extends to 66 cm to clean up high, down low and into awkward gaps. It’s so slim and compact that you’ll never accidentally knock over or bump into something again and you can reach places that you couldn’t with your classic vacuum cleaner. You can easily storage the Dyson in a corner because of the wall docking station. The battery can be charged while the machine is in the docking station, or separately from the machine.
4. It’s versatile
The Dyson Slim comes with several pieces. The floor tool attaches to the wand or directly to the machine for cleaning awkward spaces. There is a normal mode and boost mode if you need powerful suction. What I love most is that you can use it as a handheld (in Dutch: kruimeldief) to quickly vacuum crumbs, your car seats, or curtains.
5. Dyson removes hair without tangling
I have long thick hair, and also lose a lot of hair. Especially in the bedroom and bathroom where I comb my hair, I need to vacuum more often than in the rest of the house. In the conventional floor tools my hair gets tangled between the bristles. However Dyson has developed a piece that also fits the Digital Slim, called the Tangle Free Turbine Tool. It releases more hair straight into the bin than any other mini turbine tool. It has counter-rotating heads with brushes that remove hair and dirt from carpets and upholstery and draws in hair and dirt from all directions.
6. Men love it
The design obviously appeals to men. So if you want your hubby to engage in domestic chores more often, this might be the trick.
