Sharing Food with Friends at the Seafood Bar in Amsterdam Old South

After a long day of shopping in Amsterdam Old South my favourite place to flock for food is the The Seafood Bar. And how convenient! The Seafood Bar is in the Van Baerlestraat, just around the corner of the PC Hooftstraat where I ended yesterday’s shopping guide of Amsterdam Old South part 1. It’s the perfect spot for a lavish lunch or casual dinner.

It is a contemporary concept of a casual restaurant and gourmet bar where you can just walk in throughout the day without reservations, You can enjoy all the sea has to offer us, with a superb glass of wine, in a relaxed atmosphere. My friend and I shared the grilled platter with a selection of different seafood like e.g trout, sardines, lobster, prawns and mackerel.

But there is much more like mussels, oysters or a mix of shell fish. The Seafood Bar works exclusively with fresh products of the best quality. This means no additives and where possible organic, Fair Trade and a transparent and accountable origin of the products. The fish is organic, line-caught wild fish, MSC, carefully selected and processed using traditional methods.

The interior is industrial with bare brick walls and shafts of pipes still visible. The open kitchen, and airy space make it a light and inviting restaurant. And not insignificant to mention: it is very affordable!
