Via a friend I discovered this lovely Dutch lady, Marjolein,  who designs and makes the most beautiful and exquisite jewelry and sells it online in her own Etsy shop called Earlyne. Tell us a little about yourself and why you started Earlyne

My name is Marjolein ‘t Jong, I am 31 years old and I live in Amsterdam. In daily life I have enjoyed working as a Senior Account Manager at HAYS PLC, a recruitment firm. Recently I returned from Shanghai, where I worked for 2.5 years.
Inspired by the Asian trinkets I brought with me,  I decided to pick up my old hobby: making jewelry and selling them. From an early age I have had a great interest in fashion and especially in jewelry. I earned my first “income” as a 9 year old girl selling pearl necklaces with colored stones to women in the village where I grew up. With Earlyne, my e-shop, I try to share my passion once again.

What materials do you use in your designs?

I work with gemstones (pure or put in a silver / gold plated setting), pearls and crystal.
In the beginning I used the materials that I brought with me from China. Now my collection is wider, I also use materials from South Korea, Thailand and the Netherlands.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

My inspirational sources are diverse: the fashion scene in Amsterdam, the modern women of Shanghai, fashion magazines, family and friends, but also the fashion designers whom I met in Shanghai.

What makes your designs unique?

The products are handmade, classic yet contemporary- “Earlyne lights up every outfit!” There are dazzling eye-catchers, but also earrings that you can wear to a business meeting or on a casual day.
Many clients send me photos of an outfit for example a wedding and I design bespoke earrings to style the dress. Matching the right accessories to complete your outfit is important and my earrings are part of that.
I only design earrings that I like myself, the correct alignment and matching of colors and materials is an important part of that as well.

For what type of woman are your designs?

I design for women who are authentic, and confident. Women who pay attention to completing their outfit with the right accessories. Their taste is classic with a modern twist.

What is your best-seller and which design is your personal favourite?

The Light Peach Citrine gold framed earrings, oval shaped  are hands down bestsellers. And my personal favourite are the  Blue Sapphire gold framed earrings.

So what’s next?

My ambition is to expand my shop. I also sell bags, wallets, bracelets and necklaces. My next step is to start a complete line of fashion accessories with the same look and feel as the earrings.
