Style your way to career success

If there’s one thing I know about fashion, it’s how to dress for success. Having worked in the corporate world for over ten years, I know how to style my way to the boardroom while staying true to my personal taste, and without skimping on the feminine flair. What is my personal style? I like classic chic dresses that accentuate my curves, feminine pant suits, and elegant skirts. That’s why I was charmed by a new brand I recently discovered called Kyra & Ko. The designers Kyra Marcopoulos and Lidwien van der Klei started the label in 2003. Their designs are for fierce women who prefer to have a style and class of their own. All designs have a classic feminine cut, and make a statement by means of a special detail, fabric or colour.

It’s a subtle magenta on black polka dot dress harking back to the 1960s but with a modern cut which makes it a timeless piece. The dress hugs me on the right places and fits more loosely where it should, on my hips and butt. What I love about this dress is how comfortable it feels and how quick and easy it is to slip it on in the morning. The fabric is soft and flexible (80%cotton, 17% Polyamic 3%Elastic). The round neck line and elbow length sleeves make it a perfect transition summer-to-fall outfit. Pair it with a knotted silk scarve to liven it up even more.

Nowadays, it is acceptable to add colour to your tailored look. Even when I wear black or neutral shades, I do like to accessorize with colour. Fall’s 2015 hues are green, burgundy, magenta, ochre yellow and petrol. Conveniently I had all of these colours already in my closet. I chose to spice up the look with petrol coloured shoes and gloves, green nail varnish, and magenta leather goods.

Most important is that you feel comfortable in your outfit because that is what you’ll radiate and will draw people in. Nothing is more powerful than confidence and an effortless chic appearance that matches your personality. Want to see more of this brand or like to shop this dress?
