Imagine having breakfast in a huge garden full of trees, cacti, ferns, and flowers. A garden up on a hill with a gorgeous view. And a garden with hammocks, lounge chairs, and large tables boasting with a delicious authentic Turkish breakfast. It sounds wonderful doesn’t it? In fact, it was amazing! Last month, while staying at Villa Olivio, we had breakfast at this peaceful and beautiful place in Eski Datça, the ancient part of the town Datça. (more about Eski Datça tommorow). The B&B just changed owners but is still called Doga Pansiyon until the remodeling is finished.
The new owner explained to us that he is going to change the concept into a retreat where artists and free spirited, creative people could gather, share, and retreat. The new name of the place will be Cooperative art and agriculture hotel. His vision is to have a vegetable garden to grow his own food, keep chickens for the eggs, have yoga lessons, arts workshops and more to share and bring together creative people. I think this tranquil and peaceful place is just right for creative people.
But let’s talk food! We had the most amazing breakfast. The table was full of healthy yummy food: cheeses, figs, cherries, olives, watermelon, cucumber, fresh bread, honey, tomatoes and egg. I love how the Turkish make breakfast so festive with all the small dishes and different flavours. Abundance is the right word I think, and that is what makes a person feel at home.
I took so many photos of the garden and still they can’t capture the atmosphere and beauty of it all. It was the perfect spot to start the day, and to be honest I could just sit there all day and just watch the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees. I can’t wait to go back to this magical place and see how the new owner enhanced it to his vision.
