Looking for a cozy spot to hang out during a cold winter day? Maak Rotterdam is a tiny store with the sweetest pastel colored interior. Comfy chesterfield couches and a coffee corner with fresh flowers invite you to sit down right away. The smell of a freshly baked cake wafts your way, but your attention quickly shifts to the middle of the store where all kinds of colorful goodies are laid out on a table. This store sells about anything that makes owners Femke and Froukje happy. From interior decoration, locally designed children’s toys and hand-drawn cards to their own brand of baby clothes and room decoration: Roezemoez. If you’re looking for cute and original presents for young mothers and kids, you will love this place.
Finally able to tear yourself away from all that cuteness? Maak Rotterdam offers delicious (and health conscious) home-baked cakes. Whether it’s a fresh apple pie, creamy carrot cake, or a sweetened-without-sugar raw fig bar. They serve wonderfully fragrant loose leaf tea from tea garden Bloesem, typical Rotterdam Ketelbinkie coffee and hot chocolate that makes you wish it would snow right away so you can curl up on their couch!
Maak Rotterdam is located off the beaten track in Rotterdam West. They also host in-store Do It Yourself (Maak het zelf) workshops, high teas and babyhowers. I don’t know about you, but at Maak Rotterdam I’m ready for winter weather!
