Postcard pictures from île des Embiez

ile des Embiez

The island of Embiez, or île des Embiez in French, is one of those islands you don't want to leave. After visiting the French island Porquerolles last year, I was determined to find an equally blissful experience this year. I love the beaches on the Côte d'Azur, don't get me wrong, but I was looking for more natural surroundings and more intimate, smaller coves.  The French call them criques (pronounce as creeks). Thanks to a local wine farmer I visited the day before, I was directed to île des … [Read more...]

A day at Royal Palace Het Loo – part 1

A few weeks ago I visited the Grace Kelly exhibition in Royal Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. It was my first visit ever to the palace and to Apeldoorn, and I can assure you that it wasn't my last. I just loved the region! The palace is situated in Apeldoorn, a city in the east of the Netherlands right amidst the national park the Veluwe. Few cities in the Netherlands offer as much peace and quiet as Apeldoorn. Extensive woodlands and city parks dominate the region and city and are the backdrop of … [Read more...]

A stroll in Athens’ National Garden

After a long day of shopping and sightseeing in Athens, and taking in all of the new impressions, I decided to go to the National Garden. The 15.5 hectares (38 acres) park is located right behind the Greek Parliament building and across from metro station Syntagma. I was so happy to be there as everything slows down and the noise of the bustling city becomes a mumbling far away sound. It is a peaceful sanctuary and the perfect place to retreat, and to enjoy nature's beauty. Lush tropical plants … [Read more...]

So today I would like to share with you a few of my photos of autumn's galore. You might also like Autumnal Splendour Fall Pleasures … [Read more...]

This might be the last weekend to fully enjoy fall's splendour as the trees' branches are nearly bare. Today I'm sharing a compilation of four places in urban Holland to enjoy the vibrant colours. 1. Slot Zeist,  2. Meijendel in Wassenaar, 3. Landgoed Elswout in Overveen, and 4. Landgoed de Horsten in Wassenaar. Enjoy the little things and take time to catch the falling leafs. Happy fall! Fall pleasures

Cool, crisp wind. Beautiful leaves. An oversized sweater and boots. And a cup of hot chocolate. I love this time of year, at least, when it's sunny like this weekend. I try to soak it all in, because before you know it, we'll have those rainy days again. I went to the royal estate De Horsten in Wassenaar where our prince and his family lives. It's one of my favourite hang-outs in fall and winter. And there's no nicer way to end a long walk in the woods with a mug of hot chocolate and … [Read more...]
