Yesterday I started on my first lesson of the Interior Styling course I’m taking online: Interior Styling, the Fundamentals to Styling your space like a pro. I’m so impressed and exited that I just couldn’t keep it from you. And since it is a course you can take in your own pace, and we are still in the first week, I thought I would recommend it so you can enroll as well.
The e-course is run by L.A. based Justina Blakeney on the platform skillshare.com, a global learning community with hundreds of e-courses to choose from. Justina works as a stylist, curator and creative consultant. She also writes a popular daily lifestyle blog and is one of the world’s most followed pinners on Pinterest. She co-authored four design books published by Random House and worked with renowned brands like Etsy, One Kings Lane, Uncommon Goods, Martha Stewart Weddings, Anthology Magazine. Her work has been featured on a.o. NBC’s The Today show, Vogue Italia, Glamour magazine, Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small.
What you’ll learn
Through video tutorials, theory and practice you learn how to style different parts of your home with your own things in an effortlessly chic way as if it comes right out of a magazine. Justina quickly goes through the theory by linking it to images and examples. We also get expert interior photography tips from Laure Joliet. Laure has shot interiors for the New York Times, Sunset Magazine. Her tips are especially helpful for bloggers and decorators to take their interior photography up a notch.
Our first lesson included the 8 principles of styling, and 10 beginners tips to taking great photos with your DCLR or iPhone. We learned all about pattern, texture, shapes and colour palettes. During the e-course we will cover how to style a coffeetable, your bedroom, a bookcase, a console, and your couch. How fun is that? For homework we have to make a before and after photo, and we also get to learn a bit more about shopping for the right accessories and plants.
50% Discount
And here comes the best part: If you enroll via me, you don’t pay $20 but only $10. This includes a two-week e-course consisting of 5 lessons. Lijkt me een leuke cursus.
I’m living the course too, Louise! I just took before pics of the five key areas in my home. Can’t wait to start styling!!!
Looks nice! Do you know if it’s possible to sign in now but follow the course later on? To busy right now..
YES, you have access to the resources and materials for that class permanently! To access the resources from the class you signed up for, visit the class page, then scroll down to Past Classes and select the date of your class from the list. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to see all of the materials you had access to before.
Looks like a great course!
Thanks Louise for sharing this. I have enrolled but probably won’t have time to do too much. will be fun just listening to the lessons though. xx
Thanks Louise! It sounds like a fun class. I’m thinking of enrolling. I just finished Blog Boss. I think I might be addicted to on line classes. I like that this one is self paced and you have access to it at any time. I also noticed Holly Becker of decor8 mentioned you in her blog post today. Congrats!
Thanks for the tip! I just signed up! Very excited to learn something new in addition to my other interior design course from Interior Design Institute.
