A Paris home that defines timeless elegance

Some magazine issues I never throw away. Like the Australian Vogue Living of March 2013. Why? Because I instantly fell in love with the cover shot, and soon also with the rest of the house. I recently discovered that I was not the only one, because the cover was nominated for best cover of the year. It is a little girl’s bed room in a 400-year old Paris apartment at the famous Place des Vosges. A light space with hard wooden floors, a precious crystal chandelier hanging from the high plastered ceiling, an antique upholstered chair combined with a modern dressing table, and blushing satin curtains that set the tone, make this space a feminine dream space. A tulip lamp by MyYour adds fun to the room.

The apartment’s timeless elegance that seamlessly blends in with the architectural details is the work of interior designer Marianne Tiegen. The photography is done by Jeremy Wilson. According to Australian Vogue Living, many of the elegant pieces are vintage finds Marianne sourced from antique markets.

By mixing antique with modern elements like e.g. modern posters, and ethnic touches like treasures and art, Tiegen makes each space intriguing and surprising. It adds just about enough masculinity. This would definitely be a space I could live in.  What about you?

  1. Hi Louise. I’m the stylist & writer of this article, I work with both Jeremy & Marianne a lot. Thanks for such a lovely review of our article – it was a great shoot to work on. So many beautiful pieces to be inspired by & a real honour to be the front cover shot. So glad you kept the mag! X
