A day at the beach, any beach in the world is my ultimate little luxury moment in life. I just couldn’t imagine life without beaches. Of course I do play favourites but the sound of the waves, seagulls and happy kids building sand castles just makes me happy. When I head to the beach, I always dress the part. I like to match my bikini or bathing suit with cover up toppers that complement the suit and my figure. I was therefore thrilled when one of my favourite couture designers, Laura Blagogee invited me to her design studio to pick out two fabulous couture kaftans. The kaftans are bespoke, both measured and fitted to my body and hand-made. However, you can also buy them in regular sizes in Laura Blagogee’s web boutique, on request, or at SILK in Amsterdam. But let’s talk kaftans!
I was given a long and short kaftan. The kaftans let your bikini and your figure peek through a sheer cover-up, both inspired by the French Riviera and Saint Tropez in particular where adding a touch of glamour to the poolside or at the beach are basically mandatory. I like to enhance the look in sophistication by accessorizing it with a bold necklace, a large bag and my Calvin Klein wedges. The long black & white geometrical sheer fabric is timeless, playful and complements my figure perfectly.
What I also love are the details: red trimming on the sleeves that add a pop of colour and a large slit in the front for movement and that sexy factor. To dress down, I just remove the accessories and voila, it’s a comfortable, throw on kaftan when you go for a walk on the beach. I even like to wear it at home on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The short kaftan, in a leopard sheer fabric is sexy and bold. I like to wear it because it shows of my tanned legs. It’s also perfect to have on when it’s a bit cloudy or when you’re sitting under a parasol in the shade. A neon pink trim on the sleeves completes the fierce look.
