If I were to name my most loved interior design styles I would say Art Deco, Hollywood Regency style, and Coastal. To my loyal readers this should come as no big surprise because I have written about Art Deco before e.g. about the Art Deco exhibition I visited two months ago, or Miami’s Art Deco tour on South Beach. So to find out that Art Deco is 2018’s interior trend is such a delight to me. Although it’s a contemporary interpretation of the original early 1900s style, it still adapts the patterns and colours. It’s undo-able to change your home every time another trend you like emerges, but what you can do is play around with accessories, pillow cases and wallpaper. All it takes is one small accent wall in an Art Deco print and it’ll transform your space instantly. Reason enough for me to find and explore the options and brands available. This is what I found:
The ‘Palm blue‘ wallpaper from Paper Mint shown above has a contemporary feel to it due to its mint colours. I also love Paper Mint’s ‘1925 Beige Gold‘ shown below that leans more towards the original design era by the use of gold. It comes in white and black.
The art deco style changed over time and subsequently had different periods influenced by art. One is the period that was influenced by cubism, containing many geometrical and angular patterns. A modern take on that pattern style is the ‘Daisy Doré‘ wallpaper by Paper Mint. It also comes in green.
At Arte International I found the below sophisticated shimmery gold wallpaper. Combined with black and blue and rich and soft fabrics like velvet, it oozes luxury.
Divine Savages wallpaper is also super covetable. They currently only have one pattern in two color combos; dark hues with teal blue or with pink.
Graham & Brown has these beautiful and sophisticated prints
And last but not least the Wall and Deco Golden Hook wallpaper which is quintessential Art Deco and adds drama to your room.
Heel erg mooi!
